Adoption of technology is vital in the higher education sector, Santhosh Kurup, Chief Executive Officer of the Information and Communication Technology Academy of Kerala, has said.
He was delivering the keynote address in connection with the launch of the Management Information System (MIS) at Sanatana Dharma (SD) College.
Mr. Kurup said the pace of changes and developments occurring now as part of the Industrial Revolution 4.0 (IR 4.0) was rapid when compared to the earlier revolutions.
"Technological advances have enabled more than one billion children to undergo education in the post-COVID-19 pandemic scenario, which otherwise would not have been possible. Appropriate technologies should be adopted to manage all aspects of teaching, learning, and administration in higher educational institutions", he said.
An automated campus management information system "Campus Genie" developed by EZ Solutions, Thiruvananthapuram, was inaugurated by P. Krishnakumar, manager of SD College at the function, which was held online.
One-stop facility
The MIS is a one-stop facility for compiling the activities of students and staff. It enables the college to manage the details of students from admission, fee payment, attendance, online teaching, exams, issuing of transfer certificates, and so on. Parents and students can access information by logging on to the portal.
The college launched the MIS as part of the academic initiatives in connection with the institute's platinum jubilee.
SD College Principal P.R. Unnikrishna Pillai presided. P.S. Parameswaran, coordinator of Internal Quality Assurance Cell, E. Krishnan Nampoothiri, Vice Principal, and others attended the function.
